Tucker Carlson Latest In Series Of Worst Covid Victims

Tucker Carlson probably doesn't care if a few
extra people die as long as his ratings stay up
Tucker Carlson wants to see more Americans die.

That's the conclusion I have to reach as he's using his platform to question Covid vaccines, and to discourage people from taking it.

Carlson uttered these falsehoods on his broadcast this past Tuesday.

"From the very first day, the way the authorities handled the Covid vaccine did not inspire confidence. If the vaccine was so great, why were these people lying about it? Honest question. And they were lying. Clearly they were lying. You know that for certain because from the moment the Covid vaccine arrived, the most powerful people in America work to make certain that no one could criticize it."

That last sentence is rich, coming from an idiot criticizing the vaccine to his more than 4 million viewers.

Carlson did not specify what the alleged lies are.

After making the above accusation about vaccines, Carlson ended up conceding that he and his family would probably get the vaccine, despite all those supposed lies.  Sure, save yourself, but screw your gullible fans.

The people who are lying, in Carlson's fantasy world, are Melinda Gates, CNN, Fox, Twitter and Facebook.

As Newsweek points out, notice that none of these authorities on Carlson's list are epidemiologists. More importantly, none of these people and media outlets are preventing anybody from asking questions about the vaccine.  In fact, reporters for the media outlets DID ask questions about the vaccine's safety, as it is their job to do so.

What Carlson seems to object to is that Gates, media, social media et al object to disinformation being spread about the vaccine. Of course, give how Carlson is a purveyor of misinformation, he should know a lot about that.

To go off on a ridiculous example, if the vaccine is proven to not turn those who receive it into Purple People Eaters, then we shouldn't spread rumors that it does do that.

The "lies" Carlson referenced are in themselves lies.  He cited a Vox article that said Twitter and Facebook memes were still up that claimed the vaccine "attacks the uterus" and "alters your DNA," both of which are completely false.

So how about some accurate information about the vaccine?  We could sure use it! If only to save ourselves.

According to the Associated Press, 67 percent of Americans plan to get a vaccination or have already done so, while 15 percent say they won't get one and 17 percent say they aren't sure.

If the poll is right, 32 percent of people might not get a vaccination. The higher the vaccination rate, the better the chances that we'll achieve herd immunity. At that point, the pandemic will peter out and we could get back to some semblance of normality - finally!

If the poll results hold, the math won't work. Dr. Anthony Fauci says between 70 and 85 percent of the population needs the shots to achieve herd immunity.

Younger people, Blacks, people without college educations and Republicans are least likely to want a vaccine.

Those last two are Tucker's demographic.

The resistance to a vaccine has to do with people worried they aren't safe, despite the rigorous studies that went into the vaccines before approval, and the lack of complications from the millions of people who have already received the shots.

The sad thing is, many rational people know Carlson does not traffic in actual facts.

In a slander suit against Carlson last year,  even Fox's lawyers said that whatever he says can't be believed, a view the judge overseeing the case agrees with.

As NPR reports: "Just read U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil's opinion, leaning heavily on the arguments of Fox's lawyers: The 'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that (Carlson) is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.'

.....Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrives with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes"

The problem is, many of Carlson's viewers accept his statements hook, line and sinker.  Carlson knows what he says isn't true. He must know he is harming people. probably leading to extra deaths.

I'm guessing he just doesn't care.
