Match.com Has The Perfect Ad To Celebrate The End Of 2020

Satan and the year 2020 were a match.com
made in (not) heaven
The year 2020 was like a bad relationship. (2021 isn't off to a great start either, but that's another story).

But veterans of romances that did not work out still know there's somebody for everyone.   Match.com knows this, too, and in a fantastic recent commercial, proves it.

In the ad, Satan is on his lair in hell when his cellphone buzzes.  It's Match.com announcing "You're a match!" with a prospective dating partner.

Satan goes for it, and decides to meet this person in a rainy park.  The woman turns out to be the year 2020.

You can see both are immediately smitten and a conversation, awkward at first, begins

2020: "So ,where are you from"

Satan: "Hell.'

2020: "Me too."

Proving that Match.com really works Satan and 2020 really hit it off. They generate electricity with each other when they first meet in that park (via scary lightning bolts). The pair enjoy a picnic on the 50 yard line of an empty football stadium, closed by the pandemic. They work out at a gym together, again closed by the pandemic.

The fun loving couple also steal armloads of toilet paper from a restroom.  Through the ad, as true love blooms between 2020 and Satan, the Taylor Swift hit song "Love Story" plays in the background.

And yes, the sweethearts pose for a selfie together next to a Dumpster fire.

I first learned of this ad when the prudes at this outfit called One Million Moms objected to the ad.   This outfit, whose membership is likely in the thousands at most, hates anything with a sense of humor. The moms here are particularly incensed by the scene in the ad in which 2020 playfully tries to drag Satan into a church.  .

The One Million Moms press release huffs:

"(The ad) makes light of hell and the eternal dangers of the demonic realm. One Million Moms does not want viewers to be deceived by this unbiblical depiction of Satan and hell."

Whatevs.

Here's the Match.com ad. As always click on the YouTube logo to make the video bigger and easier to view.
